Today, Monday, the Tunisian Ministry of Interior announced the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the Tunisian Ministry of the Interior and the United States Embassy  in Tunis on the “Joint Security Assistance Strategy between Tunisia and the United States of America”, in the presence of the Prime Minister, in charge of managing the affairs of the Ministry of Interior, Hisham El-Mechichi , And the Ambassador of the United States of America in Tunisia, Donald Blume.

Al-Meshishi stressed that strategic cooperation in the security field with America is rising to a new level, as an agreement was signed that would raise the level of cooperation in the areas of combating terrorism and border security , and strengthen mechanisms to promote cooperation in the medium term, and to translate distinguished relations in several areas.

Al-Meshishi emphasized that Tunisia and America share in defending the values ​​of freedom and democracy, and they are against terrorism, noting that great successes have been achieved and several terrorist elements have been eliminated.

Al-Meshishi continued, saying that the phenomenon is transcontinental, and America itself has been attacked, but the victory will be by cooperation and intensification of joint operations, and the upgrading of the security institution, indicating that there are several areas in which cooperation can be made at a strategic level.

The US ambassador said that this agreement includes cooperation and security assistance, and that future security assistance programs will be discussed.
The ambassador added that cooperation between the two countries would be expanded in the fields of combating terrorism and border security, and the fabric of bilateral relations would be strengthened.
